About Collaborative Craft Projects

With more than two decades of product design, development experience, and a strong passion for sustainable and authentic interior design--Collaborative Craft Projects was born out of Jane Taylor’s desire to bring the community into her craft.

Collaborative Craft Projects’ core beliefs and values are rooted deeply in the fundamental responsibility to preserve the traditional skills and natural heritage of Zimbabwean culture and craft. At the heart of CCP, they hope to build a legacy for female artisans through partnership and collaboration, to secure the future of the craft community, and to enable a valuable sense of independence for the women that they partner with. Each piece is handmade using Fair Trade principles, which form the framework of CCP’s small business.

Led by a community of elders, the women weavers in Buhera rely solely on the sale of these baskets to support their families. Through these orders, CCP is able to provide a regular source of income for this previously marginalised community of women. With Zimbabwe’s fragile economy - the return to practising traditional craft skills and partnering with CCP has given this community an alternative source of income in an extremely harsh rural environment.
